The Gove Yacht Club is the sailor’s gateway to the Northern Territory and Indonesia. The Club began in 1970 and the present clubhouse was opened in 1990 and is surrounded by palms and lush tropical vegetation. Visiting sailor’s are always made welcome at the GYC and many extend their stay.

Gove Harbour is situated in Melville Bay on the North West tip of the Gulf of Carpentaria at latitude 12 degrees 11′ and longitude 136 degrees 42′. The town of Nhulunbuy, population 4000 is 13km from the Yacht Club. Nhulunbuy is serviced daily by Qantas jets. Flying time from Gove to Cairns is 2 hours and from Gove to Darwin is 70 minutes.
